IGERT is
not an academic department on its own. Rather, it is a program that
catalyzes and encourages collaboration. Our faculty's research agendas
incorporate mulitdiscplinary approaches to tackle the broad topic
of Interactive Digital Multimedia. For example...
-
We have Geographers working with Computer Scientists,
creating wearable computers to better map, understand, and engage
our surroundings.
-
We have Artists helping Engineers to push the
envelope on the auralization and visualization of multimedia
data.
-
And we have Psychologists and Engineers collaborating
with Musicians to build immersive environments that bring research
in auditory perception and interaction to new and exciting levels.
These are only a few examples of the larger research
being pursued by UCSB faculty in interactive digital multimedia.
